love you... Primeiro lemos a história. [banda sonora a propósito do tema]
First we read the story. After that, we talk about it. M.: I love you 'till another galaxy! I: Oh my... but that is quite much!... And I love you 'till around the universe and back up here again. M.: Ahhh... (with shiny eyes, as if she was to say: "Now how am I going to get something further?") I love you beyond all universes and back to the lava in the center of the Earth, and up until the desert! I: Ohh, that's it really much! I can not think of anything further than that.
Noto-lhe melhoras! Vamos lá a ver... More concentrated... More grown... Even with her moments of irrational childish, but finally... I see a few improvements! Let's see... But her blog hasn't been updated. I think everyone understands that now time has been less for her as for me.
Well, here we are, with our jewelery. I made a necklace similar to this one that I love and earrings almost nearly equal to these ones. She has her orange earrings (you can see them in the mosaic below) and hairpin with a little doll (also below, to see it better) I offered by her anniversary. For a long time, she asked me for earrings. I bought her a few, but she insisted in getting a pair made by me. As you know, children's jewelery is not my specialty. And earrings I thing I had never done before. But I caught myself with my hands on it, and I used up some beads that I had for some time. I could not resist to buy them but then I did almost nothing with them, except for closures of these necklaces, and more recently this and this earring. The result were these nine, yes you've read it well, NINE pairs of earrings!
Everything is right to put this girl to work! These hobby booklets are valid for getting her to read, write and lose resistance to anything that has letters in it, which she associates with school work. She already reads quite well, writes very reasonably, but she is stubborn as only she can be. She decided that does not like to work and there!... It's decided!!! But now I notice that she's more open to the subjects of the second year. Was it that she did not feel estimulated by the bases? Was the repetitive nature of the exercises of the first year that bored her so that she did not even want to pick up the pencil. Am I finally managing to tame the beast? Is it a greater maturity in her little head? In the kitchen, so far there are two places dedicated to craft works! (here's the first) Soon I'll have to put the pots in the street, because the cabinets will not fit! :) I tried to arrange my little corner on the attic, but I just don't work there. Suits me better in the kitchen.
M.: You can not come in! Me: Dear, I have to go in the kitchen. What are you doing? M.: It is a surprise! You can not see it yet. Me: Are you going to take long? M.: Yes. To get it right, I'll have to work calmly. Well, I'm glad she finaly realized that if you engage in what you are doing, the thing comes out better. I waited until she called me to see the surprise. It was this box to store handicrafts materials, decorated with a drawing. I was delighted, because he remembered to put a plastic guard on the towel, also plastic, so it wouldn't get all dirty.
:) Very interesting documentary. Don't miss it. Doesn't have subtitles, but we can understand it perfectly. We, the portuguese, are a bit multilingual by nature, aren't we?! :)
["Severn Suzuki" da Organização das Crianças em Defesa do Meio Ambiente, durante a ECO 92 - Conferência das Nações Unidas para o Meio Ambiente e o Desenvolvimento.] ["Severn Suzuki" from Organization of the Children in Defense of the Environment, during the ECO 92 - United Nations Conference on Environment and Development.]
Preocupa-me a extinção da Humanidade. A Natureza agradece! This intervention came as a slap in the face of a lot of adults. There didn't seems however to have had much effect. So we have to jog their memory. Let us hear what Severn Suzuki has to say to humanity, as many times as necessary to internalize the message. I remember a documentary in form of entertainment program, I saw on TV, I was about twelve years old, and that kept me awake a lot of nights, thinking about the atrocities that we were doing to our planet. I can not remember the name of the program, but I remember the sense of urgency to save the planet in my mind. But also in my case, time had this blurring effect. The years passed, I was doing my part, some days more than others, not always... for convenience, for lack of time, for this and for that... But it seems that just doing our part is not enough. I am concerned about the extinction of humanity. I do not think that it is the extinction of Earth that is in stake here. I do not know if many people have realized that. It may seem a selfish point of view, but this is perhaps what is missing for Humanity (especially those who have more power in this matter) to change their attitude. The Earth will probably manage to cure itself, preferably without humans to unbalance things and annihilate other species of animals and plants. The problem is us, humans, which are so indulgent, greedy and stupid, we destroy our "chiken that lays golden eggs". We act as thieves, who came to the Earth and stole stole stole, without caring for the destruction of what was not ours. We have acted as thieves, and dumb ones, because we never understood that when it's all destoied we'll disappear, we have no way of surviving then, because we stole so unbridled, uncontrolled, reckless... Without learning to create what we need. We just took. Because we had no fear that "the owner" would come to complain, there is no police who can punish us for what we have been doing. What we did not realize, we the supposedly only form of intelligent life in the universe, is that our greed will be our police. Seeing the documentaryHome led me to a better understanding of the mismanagement that we are doing with our "stealing". Even to be a "thief" you need to use intelligence and logic. It we take, as least it should only be in the quantities strictly necessary, and do not forget that we must give something in return. In other words, change the verb "steal" to "share/exchange" but in fair quantities. That's what was supposed to have happened since the beginning of humanity. But we, intelligent beings, never noticed that! I guess Nature has not calculated, when it allowed us to be, that intelligent species were so stupid! Now it is simple, it just leaves us with our stupidity, and we'll drive ourselves to extinction. Nature thanks us! It's just a matter of universal equilibrium! We should all see the beauty of another documentary. Just to see what we have to lose. And this other very interesting site on the subject.
Continuámos a brincar com as formas. Desta vez fizemos salada de frutas. Isto foi o que aconteceu à melancia! :) We continued to play with the forms. This time we made fruit salad. This was what happened to the watermelon! :)
the princess and her three parties "Yeeyhhh, este ano tive três festas de anos!" - diz ela toda contente. "Yeeyhhh, this year I had three birthday parties!" - she says, all happy. :) Since it was supposed not to be any...! As I said, this year the idea was not to throw a proper birthday party, those traditional birthday parties, and it was to celebrate with a lot of fun but without the usual confusion here at home. In short we were supposed to go to Kidzania (initially the idea was to go to the Warner Brothers Theme Park in Madrid, but we changed our minds, as indeed we do a lot!!!). The result: big fun in Kidzania on Saturday, a small party for family on Sunday and another mini-party for her friends of the library yesterday! :) And she is radiant with the idea of having three little parties. She ended up having the same rituals as if she had the traditional party, but for me it was much less laborious and tiring. The ritual that she likes best is preparating the gifts to give her friends. This year she chose My Melody as a theme to decorate the bags. Edited, printed, cut, pasted and stuff the bags with a lot of sweets and a small fun book with educational activities (which you can see in the image below). É a minha inspiração do momento. And you can see more details of this work in the catalog. Speaking of the catalog, I do not know if everyone has seen the creations inspired by the beach that I put there lately. It is my inspiration at the moment. I know I probably should have been inspired by it before for better sales during the summer, but I'm like this and have to be truthfull to my inspirations, so I could not reflect in my creations something that did not make sense at the time. :) With all these tasks, we have not had time to post updates on the princess's blog . But ideas are not lacking. Once there is time you will see there a lot of news! :)
To start, a song that has nothing to do with this post's theme, but just because it amuses me.
I found some advice on home organization in a blog that I quite like: projectos 3r. I am really in need, but from what I read I still do not realize how can I do such a change to meet them! I'd love it! I swear I would! But I just do not know how. :( Basically it says that if we keep to much stuff at home, those things that we love to keep, not because they're necessary but because we simply can not throw them away, leaves us stuck in the past, tired, confused, and make us lose time and money. It could not be more right! I belive! But the first change must come from within. And how does one change that much? I am one of those who do not like to throw anything away. And believe me I have improved a lot through the years and with becoming a mother. But it is still not enough. I need to change urgently! HeLP! I have to internalize this idea very well. Once I do it I know it will be a radical change, not knowing if it's forever (I'd like), because forever is such a long time! But I know, as I said here, that once the idea really get's into you, it takes no time to change, since we are committed to that, change is possible and fast! And ther's still time to thank Anita for the sweet gift to Bem-Trapilho.The gift brings a challenge to say 8 of my main characteristics.
1 - After the theme of this post it could only be, disorganized! 2 - Continuing... with a mania for keeping everything! (I do not know how this can be summed up in one word!) 3 - Shy 4 - Nice 5 - Honest 6 - Dreamer 7 - Never satisfied 8 - Grouch
that day on the beach Finalmente as nossas fotos daquele dia de praia! Finally our photos from that day on the beach! Sorry for the quality, or the lack of it, but they were taken with the mobile phone. Here, the arrival of the fishermen on the beach after casting a net into the sea. They pulled it to shore with the help of tractors and of the crowd, who joined there to see the picturesque scene. Here, the fish in the sand, fighting vigorously for life. And it was continuously raining sand around them. I do not know if you can tell from the photo, but M.'s hair has sand all over. :) So the advise that she decided to publish in her blog. Here, the bustle of the seagulls that fascinated me. Viemos embora quase de noite. We came heme almost by night.
Vase Decorated this vase for M. to offer grandmother for her birthday. She was worried because her grandmother is very fond of plants and apparently had broken a vase. So she was determined! The gift would have to be a vase. Then we decided the shades of pink to match the granny's bathroom, the perfect spot for plants that like moist heat. Once was the envy of any greenhouse!
Tirou-me do banho mas valeu a pena! :) Adorei o colar e brincos que me enviaste. On a lucky day, I saw the magic number of Anita. Today I received all these beauties in the mail. The mailman got me out of the bath but it was worth it! :) Thank you dear, you could not have hit better my taste. Turquoise is the color of my choice. :) I loved the necklace and earrings that you sent me. Thank you also for the gifts for my daughter. She was all happy to open the package. It could not have come at a better time since her birthday is near. The key-holder is already hanging by a handle of her room because that's where we hung neat things that we want to remain on display. And the materials too, all good taste, thank you for everything.
Chamou-me impaciente. - Caiu-me o dente, mamã! :) The day before yesterday she lost another tooth. She was already in bed. Should even be asleep by that time. She longed for this day, since even long before the tooth was shaking. She wanted one more visit from the Tooth Fairy, but it took so long since the last one, that she was beguining to think it would not happen ever again. She called me impatiently. I thought it was the usual urgency: "I can't sleep, Mom! Can I watch a little more television? Or play a little?". The answer to these questions is always very clear even before I give her the goodnight kiss. Or at least that's what I thought, because she insists on asking me the same things invariably. I asked her what was happening. - My tooth fell, Mom! We were euphoric (all of us here at home) and made the party with pictures and everything. After that, I could not get her to sleep and she ended up watching TGV that she likes a lot. Yesterday, very early, she received a visit from the Tooth Fairy. When she woke up she mumbled something that looked like: "- Where is the gift of the Tooth Fairy?". She found it near her pillow. Opened it immediately and seemed to have liked the kit to make badges, but hasn't tryed it yet, probably because having to paint the designs herself was too much work for that time of day. If laziness payed taxes...! :)
art on the street Ontem estivemos aqui: Yesterday we went here:
It was in Palmela's Castle and it was freezing cold. But we held eachother and M. stood interested until the end. I leave you with some photos of the event.
- toda entusiasmada. Now a link to a game that simulates cross-stitch embroidery with designs of Hello Kitty.
still from the beach... After painting with fingers by M. in the library, yet there was still room for imagining new creations. For now here is a hint also with the smell of the beach. I think I am already with end of summer syndrome, I do not know why. That the time was not linear for me, I already knew, but the seasons... that's a new! But I guess time and the season have everything to do with eachother, isn't that so?
and here, what's new? For you, just to have an idea of how much time M. takes to make a little school work , imagine the time it takes to wash the dishes, do all these peaces and still come to the attic to write this post. I bet that I will go back downstairs and she'll still be doing that! : ( Yeah, my holidays ended up officially, but I'm still in paused in Bem-Trapilho. I have been in slow burner. It is time to reform ideas. Do you know when we are at cruising speed with autopilot? It was how I was feeling when it comes to creations. I felt that I wasn't creating anything original. I hate when that happens. So I slowed down, stopped even, and now it's beginning to emerge the first signs of creative recovery. Today, I've experienced what I've been imagining for some time: networks around the pebbles and shells. Soon I hope to do something with it. I was delighted with the result. I like very much this handycraft feeling to it, the"sea" look, the "fishing" look. The idea is to get earrings, rings, necklaces out of these. A new "wave" on Bem-Trapilho. Ahhh and I also hope to have more feeling to return to assiduous posts here. I like to use this blog almost as a diary, you know... But lately, the chronic lack of time and physical and mental fatigue has taken the will out of me. For now I have been very busy with the blog of my cubb. Between photo sessions, preceded by real expeditions in search of missing accessories, and everything else... It a lot of work!...
